The Suunto n3i is the new and improved version of the n3, Suunto's original SPOT technology watch. In most ways, the two watches are very similar - both combine Suunto's quality design and style with the impressive array of information provided through Microsoft'sMSN Direct Service. With the Suunto n3i, you can get an impressive variety of information wirelessly transmitted to your watch, throughout the day and night. News, movie show times, sports, weather, stocks, horoscopes - you choose what content you want, set your preferences online, and the custom-tailored information automatically starts coming in. (For a detailed breakdown of the various options, see the feature listing below.
You can also receive text messages (through MSN Instant Messenger) and - perhaps best of all - it is quick and easy to set up Microsoft Office to "synch" with your Suunto n3i. This means that you'll have access to your appointment calender from your wrist, and be able to set alerts to warn you of upcoming appointments - a very useful feature!
Suunto took the customer feedback they got back from the Suunto n3, and applied it to their new n3i. The most noticable changes are the size and the strap. The n3i, at 13mm thick, is almost 20% slimmer than the n3 - still a good-sized watch, but not quite such a pain to fit under a cuff. The new strap is longer and more flexible than the hard rubber n3 strap - it's made from "Sportproof" - a tough, sharp-looking leather / synthetic hybrid that wicks moisture away from your skin. Both the strap and the casing of the n3i are an attractive silverish grey color, and the watch buttons are stainless steel, instead of black plastic. Other upgrades include a much louder speaker for alerts and alarms, 6 new watch faces, and a logbook function for reviewing lap, split, and total times.
