Very poor longevity

I've owned my X6HR for several years. As with most others, the small loop to hold excess strap is what breaks -- every several months. I am not harsh with it. Rather than spend over $20 to replace it, I will visit the local hardware shop for some O-rings.

Same issue as everyone else

I have had the same problem that everyone else seems to experience. The little loop that holds excess strap broke after less than 6 months of use. I replaced through this site and had the new one for about 8 months before it broke. I think the rubber is just a bit too soft for the designed purpose. Maybe Suunto should consider just selling the little loop as a replacement part, since the actual strap seems to work just fine and holds up well. Anyway, instead of spending another $20 on the whole strap I am just using a $0.15 o-ring from your local big-box home improvement center. Cheap replacement and it works great!

Weakness : strap

I've been using rubber bands to hold down the excess tail after this part broke. I'd suggest a material more resilient to field use as mine broke a mere 9 months after purchase. Also, an alternative strap material would be nice as this one has caused a rash on both wrists for the past 4 months - granted I wear 24/7. Thanks for the excellent watch.

Could be more durable

This strap is a replacement for the original. It could be more durable. I replace mine about twice per year and I don't think that I'm particularly harsh to them. The piece that holds down the excess strap is usually the first to go.
Other than the durability, the fit is good and it is true to the original style.

Longevity

I've had the S6 for two and a half years. I've gone through three straps and the loop broke in about two months of each strap so I used O-rings as loops. Worked great. The watch, on the other hand, didn't. After the first six months I would get a "Defrag to Memory" message and the watch would reset. I replaced the battery and it would still continue. This happened at least twice a month. I sent it back to Suunto and they replaced it. I had the watch for another year and a half and the same thing kept happening, so I lived with it until I bought another Suunto (Core). I know what you are thinking, but I still love Suunto watches and their costumer service is first rate.

Great Strap - impossible to install

The old strap on my X6HR broken - okay not the strap by the piece that holds the tongue on the female side that holds the male end in place. So I order a new strap (and paid too much in shipping).
The strap is great, installation is a nightmare. With a special tools it might be easy to install but my hand and not hints from Suunto, nightmare.
So bottom line, strap 4+ stars, customer service 0 stars.
Comments from The Staff:
Customer service 0 stars? That doesn't sound like us. Did you contact us? Or Suunto USA? Not sure what you mean by no hints or instructions; links to instructions are posted right in the replacement band descriptions. Hope these help. Thanks for your feedback.

Just as expected

The product came so fast, I can't believe it!! Great service!! After first failed attempt and poor response at C&C Outdoors. I'd used this watch for 4 years, replaced it's battery once and now the strap; everything came as it's original, installation provided online was not the same. Yet, it was not hard to figure out.

Poor Longevity

Buy several because the loop you tuck the strap tail into will break every 6-9 mos. Not quite what I would expect from a $400+ watch.

Must have if yours breaks

Hey the bottom line is it's the same strap that came with the watch. Mine lasted three years and that was two deployments to Colombia and Iraq. So it held up in the jungle and desert very well. My only suggestion to Suunto (yes I know you read these reviews for good suggestions) is to make the strap out of neoprene and velcro. This would prevent pinching and burns when the watch gets ripped off your arm. You have a similar band for the Vector but not the X6. Just a thought!
